History of Heymountain
The history of Heymountain
We are convinced that the steady pursuit of growth is not good for us and our planet. No organism can grow year after year with high rates without getting unhealthy; a business enterprise can not do that either. Not to be misunderstood, we are for reasonable growth which stands on an ethical foundation and is in harmony with the environment and the community.
At Heymountain Cosmetics we therefore have objectives other than maximizing revenues. Our activity in Heymountain is only useful if our entire team finds joy in what we are doing. Most important for us is the feeling that we can do our customers something good with high-quality ingredients and our lovely products.
The team of Heymountain Cosmetics has more than 20 years of experience in the cosmetics industry. The past of the Heymountain founders is closely linked to experiences with brand names such as Ben & Jerry's, The Body Shop and Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics. ( "Ben & Jerry", "The Body Shop" and "Lush" are registered trademarks and trademarks.)
During their early years, Ben & Jerry was one of our heroes and the proof that you can have success with innovative products even in times of crisis.
We were closely associated with The Body Shop for many years, and have seen in that time many facets of the cosmetics business from various angles. Studying the journey of Anita and Gordon Roddick, and sometimes controversially discuss the results with them, was much more instructive than some semesters at a business school.
The time at The Body Shop led us to Lush and one of its founders, Mark Constantine from Poole in Dorset, Southern England. In spring of 2002, a few months after the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, Mark came up to us and persuaded us to start and build the business for Lush in Germany. We set up a joint venture, and in August 2002 we opened the first German Lush store in the famous Spitalerstrasse in Hamburg. Within 5 years we opend 19 more shops in 1A locations in major german cities.
Right from the start we had arranged with Mark that we would build and establish his concept in Germany, but that we would then like to see other people taking responsibility for further expansion. In September 2007 we were able to retreat to the peace and security of the beautiful Heuberg on the Swabian Alb. Because doing nothing could never be satisfying, we developed around our ethical and ecological ideas a completely new cosmetics concept, which we called "Heymountain".
All Heymountain cosmetic products are designed and produced by our team. We would be pleased if you find pleasure and satisfaction with our handmade, fresh, vegetarian and mostly vegan cosmetic products.
